Sundried Tomatoes against prostate cancer News - 2008/05/29 Eating dried tomatoes could help to prevent the prostate cancer. It was told by a group of researchers from the University of Missouri (USA) in an article on the Cancer Research Magazine. "Several comestible plants, if treated through heating, milling, drying, can enhance their nutritional values, including their anti tumoral preventing potential" was explained by Valeri V. Mossine, the study coordinator. According to the researchers, by exposing the tomatoes to a dehydrating process it is possible to enhance their protective effect. To demonstrate this mechanism of cause and effect, the researchers have conducted a series of experiments with mice, to whom was inducted the prostate cancer. The cavies were divided into two groups: to the first group was given not treated tomatoes, to the second one was given dehydrated tomatoes. The analysis results underline that the cavies who had eaten dehydrated tomatoes, had a longer survival than the others. In fact, the cavies who assumed the treated tomatoes, survived for 51 weeks, while the other ones only up to 45 weeks. "From pasta to wine, from oil to sweets, not forgetting bread and dressings, for a tour of Sicily in an eight-course meal". By Anna Gelsomino If the chef stands still a while preparing the first course, let him be, hurry is a bad ingredient and, the appetizer can be protracted: there are the delicious Caponatas under oil by Paolo Licata, the owner and creator of the Company “Villa Reale” from Sciacca, who some years ago went to the source of gastronomic wisdom: his grandmother, to create his recipes. And before tasting, look at his Caponata, marvelous chromatic mix that seems coming out form Caravaggio pictures. A wonderful dressing for your pasta is emerging from the colorful “Villa Reale” jars, and it is the first of a series: cannot stop to the Swordfish Patè pasta, you at least need to taste the most successful product by “Villa Reale”, the Trapanese Pesto Sauce and the Tomato Sauces that can’t be intended if not tried; how could I describe the ecstasy? You must taste. Then, did you know why Paolo Licata Company is called “Villa Reale”? Because even before the firm being established, twenty years ago, Paolo’s friends agreed that at Licata’s place you eat like a king (…). Take a sit at the table if you really want to know the beautiful Trinacria, where is better living to eat than eating to live, and if you want a full and wide welcome, as only Sicilians can do, don’t you be inappetent and don’t you dare to talk about hypocaloric diets, because here those attitudes are watched with suspect or, in the best case, with the sorry compassion to be used with ill people. The delicate but impertinent scent of the sea, the need which comes from the obstinate sun, the lazy obsession of cicadas and the spicy violence of Scirocco, full of hidden harmonies are absolutely incompatible with inappetence.
